As you might have noted by now, towards the end of each year, men and women of God alike will announce “Themes” for the coming year. You would have also noted that different churches, ministries, denominations, etc. seldom ever have the same “Theme” and that almost all the time, the themes come from God (as different as they are).
You will also note that all these themes are often good e.g. “My year of Dominion or victory, etc.” you will not see “Year of slavery, pandemics, etc.”
Why is this so?
Now I do not know your opinions on the above, but I would like you to consider the following:
The scriptures teach us that “… the worlds were framed by the word of God…” and as we see in the first chapter of Genesis, God created everything by His word, “And God said…” (He spoke everything into being/existence). The scriptures also teach us that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
So, what I am trying to say is that the themes, which, by the way, are inspired by the Spirit of God, are necessary to form (through our confessions and prayers) a pleasant year ahead, of course, these must be in line with the will and the word of God. Having an annual theme does not mean that there will be no challenges for the child of God, but it does mean that at the beginning of each year, through prayer and confessions of faith: you begin to charter a way towards the destiny that God wills for you for that year, it also means that you begin to fight off the traps that the enemy has planned for you for that particular year.
If you do not belong to a church body, ministry or denomination, and you are not confessing anything for the new year, you are leaving your life to chance.
A good new year’s resolution for the coming year, would be to join and be planted in a good bible based, Spirit filled and Jesus believing church.
Blessings.
