Romans 1: 28
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge…
To RETAIN is to keep in one’s memory, when I was a student, I use to read certain chapters of my text books over and over again so that I could try and retain the information that was in them, I did this in hope that I will be able to recall that information in the examination hall. When I started working, information would be retained through doing the same or similar work over and over again (experience).
So, in order to RETAIN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD or GOD IN YOUR KNOWLEDGE, which knowledge is very important, we need to give ourselves to a repetitive system or culture of reading and listening to God’s Word, because the process of memorization requires a lot of repetition.
If we do not actively and continuously endeavour to do the above, these consequences will be present or prevalent in our lives, homes and the communities we live in.
Romans 1: 29-32
God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
When our lives, homes and communities are filled with all unrighteousness, etc. it is a sure sign that we are no longer retaining God in our knowledge as the scripture says, so we either have to go back to the basics or we have to evangelize our communities.
May you be fruitful in this regard, may we and those around us retain God in our knowledge.
Be Blessed
