Mark 3: 6
And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
Mark 3: 21-22
And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself. And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
The book of Mark and the third chapter is full of paradoxes, we see two extreme opposites: in the one hand, we see Jesus at the height of His ministry: great miracles were taking place, huge crowds were gathering everywhere He went. His ministry was growing to the point that He had to send His disciples to do some of the work.
Yet on the other hand, in the same season: opposition, unbelief and accusation was rife in His ministry.
This made me realize that no matter how great you are doing in life, Ministry, business, etc. there will always be those who oppose you, those who doubt your call and abilities and those who accuse you. This will unfortunately be present even in the midst of obvious and apparent success.
So the lesson here is:
- To expect the above to happen to you and knowing that it is part and parcel of your journey (Matthew 10: 25-26).
- To keep your eyes permanently fixated on God who is the Alpha and Omega of your life and keeping the goal of pleasing Him and not flawed human beings (Colossians 3: 1-4).
Keep forging forward and don’t be discouraged or concerned by those who are interested in the speck that is in your eye, instead of the beam that is in their eye (Matthew 7: 3-5).
Be Blessed
